Merit Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Ambasamudram, was started in the academic year 1984-1985 by The Merit Educational and Charitable Trust with a mission to set education on a noble perch accessible to all in pursuit of knowledge and world-class education. It was recognized by the Govt. of Tamilnadu in the year 1995.

Merit Matriculation Higher Secondary School is opened with this ideology to nourish and nurture the potential of individuals to the extent of perfection.
Here we endeavour to spread the light of education all around. It is our earnest effort to make ‘MERIT’, a school with a difference and a school missioned to impart excellence in individuals and prepare world-class citizens, professionals, leaders, bureaucrats, and intellectuals.
It is a matter of pride for all those who are in one or other way related to the prestigious Merit Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Ambasamudram which has been traversing through 35 glorious years. Right from the beginning, the school has been a perennial spring of Knowledge, Merit and Status for the educationally droughty hamlet of Ambasamudram. The school has gone a great way ahead to be the source of inspiration and enlightenment for many young ones.
Our School would serve as a vital stepping stone to a rewarding life and career.

The primary aim of our school is to offer holistic education to the student community which will pave the way for them to emerge as socially responsible citizens in course of time and render significant contribution to our future India. Besides enlightening the minds of the students in their respective fields, the teaching fraternity of our school makes earnest efforts to inculcate the ethical values in the minds of the students. By doing so, our school students are transformed into noble beings.
It is my dream and desire that our students should obtain an overall development and reach out to an elevated position in society, serving the people with a sense of absolute commitment and dedication I wish one and all with best wishes... Extending a warm welcome to all of you.
Merit Matriculation Higher Secondary School has marched forward to spread the light of education and pave the path of academic excellence for every student right from its inception.
Education at ‘MERIT’ goes beyond the letters in the pages of a textbook and students emerge as confident young individuals, ready to face the challenges of the 21st century. We constantly inspire our students to question and learn by doing, we give them the skills, courage, optimism and integrity to pursue their own dreams; facilitating with an effectively balanced amalgamation of contemporary and traditional learning.
We give a priority on recognizing and rewarding accomplishment at all levels. Excellent performance is not an exception but an expectation at ‘MERIT’, thus providing a learning environment that allows every student to thrive as a talented individual.
I gratefully thank everyone once again for putting their trust in us, and conclude by what Mahatma Gandhi said several decades ago,
“… Education for life, education through life, and education throughout life.” We at ‘MERIT’ believe just that!
